Pregnancy signs and symptoms are easy to identify in their later stages, but there are some tips for the first time mother that will help her to identify whether she is pregnant or not. If it is the first time that you are trying to have a baby you might not be aware of all of the physiological changes that are happening in your body. The most common indicator that you are pregnant is a feeling of nausea or queasiness early in the day. This is commonly known as morning sickness, and it may continue for only a few weeks, or right until the end of your pregnancy. Any experienced mother knows that although this makes you feel terrible, when you become a parent it is all forgotten in the love you feel for your children.
There are several other early pregnancy signs and symptoms that you can look out for. Most commonly you stop menstruating, although in rare cases light menstruation can continue. Some women believe that they can just feel when they are pregnant. This is most common in women who have already had children before and recognise the feeling that they got the last time they were due to be a mother. A third sign is a feeling of breast tenderness that is different from, or more extreme than the tenderness that is normally experienced when menstruating. Although these are not necessarily guarantees that you are pregnant, if you experience them it might be worth visiting the doctor.
Fatigue is one of the least noted signs of pregnancy. During a pregnancy the body is creating an entirely new person which takes a lot of energy. It is common for a mother to feel tired for the first three months of her pregnancy, after which her energy levels should return to normal. This feeling of fatigue can also be accompanied by irritability or tearfulness at the body adjusts to the new hormones that it is creating. If you suspect you are pregnant it is worth talking to your partner and doctor about these pregnancy signs and symptoms.
